Since there are a few co-worker's birthdays coming up, I thought I would try out the cupcake card that I found on Linsey's blog. She did such an amazing job on her cupcakes, it inspired me to make some of my own. I don't have much cardstock or decorative paper on hand so I improvised a little. With the pink card, I used a white cardstock and I printed it brown and cut out only the base of the cupcake. I used another white piece of cardstock and printed it pink and cut out the top of the cupcake and assembled and embellished. With the blue card, I used a white cardstock and cut the base, the brown printed cardstock for the "baking cup", and last but not least a blue printed cardstock for the cupcake top. I stamped both with happy birthday in the inside and I plan to sit the cards on top of their desks instead of putting them in envelopes. This card was so easy and so much fun to make!
Enjoy!Labels: birthday, cupcake

One of my closest friends is pregnant with her second =). We are getting together to plan her baby shower this weekend and it made me think of the diaper cakes I made a few years ago. My sister in law and co-worker both had Winnie the Pooh as their nursery theme so what better gift then a Winnie the Pooh diaper cake! Although they shared the same taste, one had a girl and one had a boy and these seemed to be perfect! Last but not least here is the diaper cake I made for my own baby shower. You can't really see the name but it spells out "Aaliyah". The little business card looking thing is one of my favors which was a magnet that said "Thank you for coming to our baby shower", it had our names, the date and an awesome sonogram picture of our baby girl. The pink lillies were also a part of my favors, although not pictured here, I made flower pens with tags and threw a whole bunch in a dollar store vase with hershey kisses at the bottom and used it as my centerpieces. Oh the joy of baby showers! I offered to make her invitations as well as provide the favors. As for the details of the shower, we are enlisting a few of her closest friends to chip in with ideas, games, decorations, etc. We want to make this shower very budget friendly and hopefully we can achieve that with the help of friends. I made this card for Deloris. She sent me some red rubber and rhinestones in the mail. She was so thoughtful I couldn't resist making her a card! Her yahoo group has really helped me get creative. Who would've thought! I'm pretty busy at work and at school this week, hopefully I can get more blogging done. I'm in the process of getting all my Valentine's cards and treats done soon. I finally had a chance to sit down and think about what I wanted to do. So that should be posted soon! Hope everyone likes! Labels: LovetheBug Yahoo Group, RAK

I made this birthday card for my boss. I definitely wish I had more stamps. I'm addicted! Hopefully I can buy some more soon. Right now I have two alpha sets, a swirl type stamp and some sentiment stamps. Too bad they shut down Recollections, I really enjoyed going there and finding all types of scrapbooking ideas. The nearest scrapbook store is maybe 20 miles from me. Although, I could go to Michaels, Target or Walmart...I just wish there were stores specific to scrapbooking and cardmaking. Enjoy the card! I thought I would make some chocolate filled boxes for my co-workers for Valentine's Day. This is what I have so far. I like the one on the left most. I'm thinking of making this for my team and a "pizza box" for the rest of my co-workers. The pizza box is pretty easy to make, I don't have a picture of the one I made on here since it wasn't sturdy enough. Below is a picture of the card I made, still debating on whether I should make these too. My camera didn't really take good pictures. I really do need a new one! Labels: boxes, valentine's

The beginning of this week, I decided the planner I bought from the campus bookstore was a bit plain. I decided to alter it a little. This is what I came up with. Simple but definitely not ordinary! I printed out the striped pattern from my computer, used a scrap green cardstock, stamped it and there you have it!

Envelope Challenge with LovetheBug Yahoo Group Deloris from the LovetheBug Yahoo Group, has challenged the group with an envelope challenge. She sent each of us an evelope of goodies to make a card with. Here is my take on the challenge. I am also testing various ways of taking pictures of my cards so please do feel free to leave suggestions! The first is on a white background. The second is with the card laid down flat on the table. Last but not least, this one is standing up on a black background. Deloris definitely had my mind going last night! I spent about an hour trying to figure out what to do. I loved it! Hope you all like! Labels: challenges, LovetheBug Yahoo Group

I've been meaning to post but I have been so busy! The semester has started again and I am back at school this week. I have 2 online classes and 2 classes at the campus. I've been able to get a good head start on the online classes with the free time I have at work, this will later help me when I no longer have the free time! I finally was able to get my Cuttlebug exchanged! The store manager and scrapbook lady (as the manager called her) at Michaels were so helpful! Now I have a working Cuttlebug. I was so excited, it was like opening it up all over again! The manager definitely made sure that it work, he tested it right in front of me..thank goodness! I've recently signed up for a few craft forums and a few groups from Yahoo. I hope that these groups and forums can get my creativity rolling with ideas! Can you tell that my mind just jumps from one thing to another? I sometimes can't keep up with myself! I'm hoping I'll have more time at work tomorrow to actually post something! Until then =)

I thought I would post a picture of the box of greeting cards I made for my old boss for Christmas. Here is the box, it is actually a pop tart box covered with decorative paper and tied with a ribbon. Below are the cards that I included. This was done very last minute, hence the lack of creativity. I hope to get better at creating this gift set as my supply grows! I will hopefully make more of these for close friends and family to get my work out there!

This past weekend, Michael's, was having a sale on all Cuttlebug items..bringing the 79.99 item to 39.99. So I went and bought one along with a handful of embossing folders and a few dies and to my disappointment, the machine turns out to be defective. The dies don't cut all the way through and the embossing folders don't emboss. It seems as if the right side of the machine is the only part working. It'll cut through the paper only to leave the other half with nothing. I've tried everything to make my dies cut through but nothing seems to be helping. Good news is, I called Michael's today and they said they would be able to exchange for another one =). Wish me luck, I know all Cuttlebugs are different and I hope this one works better than the last one.

One of my new years resolutions this year is to design more. Since I've always been interested in art, creating homemade things have always seemed to put a smile on my face, and since part of a creative journey is not only to express yourself in your work but also be able to share it with others... this is where blogger comes in. I will post my trials and tribulations through my creative journey of this year and hopefully for many years to come.
